Categories: WomenChrist Church Mother’s Union presents a great opportunity for the women of the parish to get together for fellowship and supper. The committe plan a great programme and there are several special events held throughout the year.
Mothers’ Union is a Christian organisation which promotes the well-being of families worldwide. The MU in Ireland is part of a membership of 3.6 million in 79 countries worldwide and there are 385 branches throughout the 12 dioceses of the Church of Ireland. Membership is for anyone who is baptized and wishes to support the MU’s aims and objectives. It is for both men and women regardless of age or marital status.
The Aims and Objectives of Mothers’ Union:
To promote and support married life
To encourage parents in their role to develop the faith of their children
To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service
To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and the protection of children
To help those whose family life has met with adversity.
The members bring a variety of practical help and support to their parish and community. Local initiatives include:
Marriage preparation
Parenting courses
Parent & toddler groups
Other community outreach projects
The Mothers’ Union full-colour magazine “Families First” contains articles of interest primarily aimed at Christian women. There is also an Irish newsletter called “Focus” and diocesan newsletters keep members and others informed of activities and events.
