Organisation: Fields of Life
Country: Uganda
Parish Link: Mr David Charleton
The Fields of Life Trust is an organisation that has been working in Uganda since 1995. It was established when Reverend Trevor Stevenson initiated an agricultural project, which involved buying and setting up a 110 acre farm, 16 km from Kampala, in an area once known as The Killing Fields.
Two years later, at the request of local villagers, the Fields of Life Trust built their first school building, Fields of Life Academy, close to the farm. Since then, school building has become a major part of the work of the Fields of Life Trust. Through this work, thousands of children will receive an education and learn basic skills, encouraging them to take on income generating projects.
The Fields of Life Trust now builds schools, drill wells and provides health education and income generating projects in some of the poorest areas in East Africa, including Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya, the Congo and Uganda.

Youth Centre and Computer Classes
Parish Link: Mr Ivan Henderson
In the Spring of 1998 a 12-week pilot youth project was set up in Kilkeel. The premises (kindly donated) were laid out in the theme of Star Trek and was called JIMS. The project offered a soft drinks bar, snack food, music, games such as darts, pool and play stations etc.
Since then, JIMS has expanded and grown into the centre that the community calls JIMS. We target youth and adults alike for various programmes. JIMS holds numerous theme events in our new end as well has hosting regular drop-in Friday and Saturday nights each weekend.

Organisation: One Home, Many Hopes
Country: Kenya
Parish link: Jean Keown
Thomas Keown was born in Kilkeel and is the co-founder of ‘One Home Many Hopes’, a loving home for orphaned and abandoned girls in Kenya. Known in Kenya as “Mudzini Kwetu”, OHMH finds, rescues, houses, loves and educates former street children and equips them to be the future agents of change in their community. Currently they house 35 parentless girls who had spent their earliest years surviving on Mtwapa’s streets and trash piles. Today they live as one family, attend school, and care for one another. Thomas is busy as an advocate and fundraiser for OHMH as they build a new home which will house up to 60 girls.

Organisation: Mission Africa
Location: Nigeria
Parish Link: Sam and Hazel Seed
Samantha set off for Nigeria in January 2010 and will be there for two years serving with Mission Africa. Initially she will be living in Jos, settling into a role with the Fellowship of Christian Students. Eventually she expects her work to take her north, out of the city. Samantha will be tackling the Hausa language, something for which she’d like our prayer support! This is her second spell in Nigeria having previously spent 8 months there with Mission Africa.
